Dancing with the Stars – Why Bristol Palin lost!

C'mon. You know why Bristol Palin didn't win' Dancing with the Stars.' It's called "fairness." It's nice to see it, finally.

- Season 11, Episode 20 - "Season Finale"

Well. I don’t know about you, but I’m frankly exhausted. Yes, it’s true. I had two industrial sized vanilla coffees, numerous handfuls of vegetable chips, two phone calls, one loud husband and a partridge in a pear tree; all while trying to watch the Dancing With the Stars finale tonight. I knew it would be a challenge when the evening started out with Bristol Palin saying that if she should win it would be “a big middle finger to all the people out there who hate my Mom and me.” Yep. That was bad enough. But it was followed by my husband immediately saying, “Oh no. We have to sit through two hours of this shit?” So. The odds were against me. But not unlike Jennifer Grey, I forged ahead through these injuries. All in the name of finishing what I began lo these many weeks ago.

The contestants performed their final two dances tonight — one being their own choice, the other a Cha Cha challenge. We had to endure a lot of flotsam and jetsam in between. Here’s quick thoughts on those:

The Hoff: His corny Baywatch number was the best in the worst possible way. I always love me some Hoff.

Drama from this season: Jennifer cried about Patrick. Brandy and Maks fought. People booed scores and not Sarah Palin. The Situation is crazy. And Maks and Carrie Ann had a fight.

The Situation: Came back to um … dance. Have I mentioned he’s crazy? And all those dancing chicks taking off his clothes was basically uncalled for. (Who sneaked my Grandma into my head just now?)

Surprises from this season: Bruno gets nasty at Michael Bolton. Brandy gets kicked off. And. (Gulp.) Florence Henderson flashes her bra. (I think those veggie chips might be comin’ up on me.)

Rick and Kurt “duke it out”: Why oh why can’t I fast forward live TV? Although at this point I think my husband actually started enjoying himself he was laughing so hard when they “danced” together. Plus, he always likes to see Cheryl return. (Men!)

Two performances by Christina Aguilera: Is she pregnant? And how many times do we have to see her sing “Beautiful?” Huh? How many?

Brandy and Maks dance again: Yep. They totally proved they were jacked.

And during all this, the final three performed. It was evident here, if any of you have ever had any questions, about who should win based on the Cha Cha challenge alone. Obviously, changes need to be made in the voting process next season.

Jennifer has always been great. Bristol hasn’t. Kyle was always just OK to me. You saw that tonight all in a nice little nutshell. (O.K. a rather long nutshell, but a nutshell just the same.) It was only fair. It’s nice and refreshing to see that sometimes “fair” happens. Or as Willie Wonka would say, “So shines a good deed in a weary world.”

See ya next season?

Your husband?

Love the guy …

She had a slipped disc in the morning, and danced that night?

SURE she did.

And if you ever tell anyone I commented, I’ll hold Michael’s avatar for ransom.

Like I said from the very start of the (non) competition. NOBODY puts Baby in a corner.

Was there EVER a reasonable doubt that she would not win??? I don’t even watch and I can pick at least two of the final three every season. Anybody who loved Dirty Dancing knew this was a lock.

And – yay. She’s a spirited chick and I love her.

Yep Modwild, there was doubt. Although it was not “reasonable” at all :)
