With the broadcast networks quiet as they gear up for the new fall season, the big story was the record setting performance of the ‘VMAs’ on cable. Finally, something that was able to topple ‘Jersey Shore’ in the ratings.
Every now and then ‘Breaking Bad’ will treat us to a short flashback moment, and each time I’m floored at how well the show is able to put forth younger versions of the characters we’ve come to know.
It appears my initial assessment of Hank’s recovery and abilities was rather shortsighted. In what seemed to amount to perhaps a few weeks’ time, Hank is not only back on his feet, but he’s so incredibly close to Gus Fring’s business that he’s skipping right over Walter’s involvement.
‘The Glee Project’ finale brought a surprise ending. ‘Awkward’ had a surprise jump in the ratings. ‘Jersey Shore’ surprised nobody in dominating the week. And ‘NCIS’ gives us the Gibbsian Bar to use in gauging other cable entries.
Football has started, if you count the preseason. The ratings would suggest that about half of you don’t. Over on cable, ‘The Nine Lives Of Chloe King’ wrapped up its first season. Will there be a second?
If the comments from some of the previous ‘Breaking Bad’ reviews are any indication, Skyler White would not be missed if she wasn’t part of Walt’s life, regardless of the method.
