It’s time for me to admit it: I’m a fan of NBC’s ‘The Voice.’ It pains me to say it – as a writer of scripted television, reality TV is pretty much my sworn enemy – but trying to deny it is just getting ridiculous.
As we are on the eve of upfronts, news of cancellations and renewals is flying in. This week we take a look at the fates of some of those bubble shows, and ponder what Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen on ‘Two and a Half Men’ means for the CBS Monday.
Every week brother and sister team Bob and Debbie take on a new topic. This week we talk about the state of reality singing competitions, including ‘The Voice’ and the reunion of Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.
Two episodes in, things get shaken up. Now we see what the competitors are made of as they go up against each other.
Overall, the first full week of sweeps was a bit slow. The big surprise came as NBC’s ‘The Voice’ managed to improve on what was an outstanding debut the week before. Over on cable, can you imagine ‘L&O CI’ on USA beating new ‘L&O LA’ on NBC?
