Things I learned from The Voice, week five

What did I learn from this week’s ‘The Voice’? Short people can have their day, you can get away with a Radiohead song (at least if you’ve won two Grammys), and Cee Lo Green actually does take his sunglasses off. Did this episode throw you as much as it did me?

The Chicago Code – It’s last call for my best friends (and enemies)

In a season where I’ve become disillusioned with finales, leave it to ‘The Chicago Code’ to sweep in and restore my faith with as close to a perfect last act as I’ve ever seen in two decades of watching TV. That only makes breaking up even harder to do.

Things I learned from The Voice, week four

Chuck – Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

The ‘Chuck’ season finale promised us a huge cliffhanger; it was right there in the title. But is it as much of a cliffhanger if it’s also deja vu?

The Chicago Code – What’s black and white and actually means it?

It might be out but it’s not down: tonight’s ‘The Chicago Code’ showed off writing that didn’t mess around, or try to suck up for my attention. The result? Some of the best drama on TV. Aspiring writers and network execs, take note.

The Voice – Oh, God, I’m in love with a reality show (?!)

It’s time for me to admit it: I’m a fan of NBC’s ‘The Voice.’ It pains me to say it – as a writer of scripted television, reality TV is pretty much my sworn enemy – but trying to deny it is just getting ridiculous.
