Did DeAndre finally get voted off American Idol?

Did my long-standing wish come true? Did the Easter bunny deliver an early Easter gift to me on this episode of 'American Idol' ... ???

- Season 11, Episode 27 - "Top 8 Elimination"

Hey … how ’bout a few quotes … from ME … ?!?

I couldn’t be happier. Finally, the viewers at home caught wind of what the judges could not — that DeAndre was out of his league when it came to the remaining Idol hopefuls.

I pleaded, I prayed, I wished and I whined. I grumbled week in and week out, I grimaced at just about every falsetto that came out mouth, I rolled my eyes each time he flipped his hair out of his face during his performances. (Last Tuesday? He flung his hair behind him so many times, I was practically out of breath from *hrumphing*.)

Yes … I’m happy DeAndre is gone. In all the years I’ve been watching American Idol, I don’t think there has been a contestant I’ve disliked more. I was under the impression (and, thankfully, a false one) the bubble gum contingent would keep DeAndre alive and well for at least a few more weeks. *whew* I’ve never been so relieved to be so wrong.

Lastly? I can say in all honesty that musically speaking each and every one of the remaining contestants is better than DeAndre. And that includes a few who have come before who were ousted prior to him: Heejun Han, Shannon Magrane and Erika Van Pelt.

Notes:

  • One of the most shocking things I heard from a contestant this episode came from Jessica Sanchez: “There wasn’t a lot of songs that fit my voice in the 80’s.” She was kidding … right? That was a flabbergasting statement to me. My immediate sarcastic response was “How ’bout ‘Don’t Play Around’ by Thin Lizzy?” *chortle*
  • I thought it absolutely hilarious Jimmy Iovine called out every single judge for praising DeAndre, especially in light of the final result.
  • Kellie Pickler needs an In ‘N’ Out Double Double, animal style at least several times a week. The girl needs some meat on her bones.

Quotes:

“It’s very difficult to push yourself when everyone’s telling you you’re so great …” — Jimmy Iovine on Phillip Phillips (Damn straight, Jimmy … damn straight …)

“I’m just trying to play music.” — Phillip Phillips

Okay, I was a little surprised DeAndre was voted off, but a whole lot surprised they didn’t save him. J-Lo may be only one vote, but she has often been the deciding vote. She pushes for the ones she wants to keep, and the “boys” seem to give in under pressure.

I won’t miss him, so I can enjoy your happiness with you. I also remain resigned to the fact that I have no idea by this time in the season [every season] what America is going to vote for. My predictions started missing when Shannon went home and have been frequently wrong since.

If I didn’t know that was Kellie Pickler I really don’t think I would recognize her, she looks so so different from when she was on AI.
I would have died if JLo had tried to use the save for DeAndrea!! She does love her young boys doesn’t she?

Not only did Kellie look like she could stand a good meal, the top she wore totally counteracted the “new shoes” she bought herself before her last appearance on Idol.
