Well, folks, it’s just two weeks until the end of the season and we now have our final five on Big Brother. After all of the drama this week, it was a pretty drama-free eviction night. Be warned — if you’re in one of the areas which pre-empted the show for the football game, this post will contain an eviction spoiler.
As we saw earlier, Jordan was hurt by Shelly’s actions and simply furious for trusting her and giving her the phone call home. I know it had to tear both of them up, but Shelly had to do what she had to do to move forward … even if it was too soon to make that move. The talk she had with Jordan on Wednesday’s episode seemed to smooth things over, but a hurt like that can’t be erased with a few words and tears even if it is just a game.
When it came down to the vote, it was pretty amazing that Shelly simply addressed Jordan and Rachel and the look on Kalia’s face was priceless. When Julie asked her to go to the Diary Room to cast her vote, she should have just sat there and told her that her vote really didn’t matter (which she did say in the DR, but it would have been much cooler saying it in front of everyone). I have to say I’m a bit disappointed in Jordan and Rachel’s decision to vote out Shelly. As much as they’ve talked about getting out the floaters, Adam should have been the one going tonight. The guy is useless … but he’s proven he can’t win a competition (unless someone throws it) so he is much less of a danger over the next week to win something and make it to the final three (now watch him win HoH tonight — but Rachel seemed to be in the lead as the show ended). I understand that they had to take out the bigger threat — although what has Shelly won? — and the least trustworthy of the two nominees. It should be interesting to see what happens when Shelly arrives at the Jury House.
Now, I have to get on my soapbox for a minute here after reading about what’s been going on in the fan world of Big Brother. Ever since Shelly flipped her allegiance and cast the vote that sent “Big Jeff” packing (even though Kalia was the one who actually gave him the boot), the fans have been in an uproar. Rachel has been reduced to Big Brother Public Enemy Number Two (and she’s become much more tolerable since Brendon’s been gone) and Shelly has become the object of the Jeff & Jordan fans’ hatred.
I’ve been really shocked and saddened not so much by people being upset, but by the level of anger that has come out of her game playing decision. Someone has started a “We Hate Shelly” Facebook page where people have been leaving the most hateful and horrid comments about Shelly and her family. People have gotten ahold of her home phone number and left death threats, called her employer asking to have her fired, have asked that people call CPS to have Josie taken away from her, and even wished terrible, sick and depraved harm on Josie herself. I sincerely hope that anyone reading these posts realizes that Big Brother is a game and is not real life. The producers have done a masterful job of editing Jeff and Jordan into “America’s Sweethearts,” but the live feed viewers have also seen a not-so-nice side to Jeff’s personality. What we see on TV is fantasy and entertainment, and in a game like this people have to make unpopular decisions to get them ahead. If you must, hate on Big Brother Shelly all you want, but leave real life Shelly, and especially her child, out of it.
Okay, now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s take a vote. Who do you want to win Season 13 of Big Brother? Cast your vote below, and feel free to leave comments. Voting will close on September 14 at 8:00 PM ET.
I don’t care for Rachel, but she’s been playing the game 24/7 and deserves the win. Her downfall will be if it’s her and Jordan in the final two. No one will beat Jordan.
You’re absolutely right that the reaction to Shelly is insane, but it is also true that she made a big deal out of her “honesty” & hatred for any one who lies, while she was lying to everyone. I’m sure all the people threatening her are no better (most likely worse) than she is & that’s pretty low.
Dan
The difference between Shelly and the people threatening her is that Shelly is playing a game where I think it’s expected that you play a shell game and duck and dodge at every turn. The people threatening her are in the real world and are reacting to the “game” with illegal actions.
. . . . .
“Thanks” for the photo above, Chuck. Most gruesome image I’ve seen in recent memory.
I’ll be calling you when I have nightmares tonight and giving you an earful.

You should be thankful. It could have been a lot worse … like Rachel without makeup!
I am so not a Rachel fan, but ever since Brendon left and she was done with her pity party, I’m really routing for her. She seems rational, plays hard, and has been keeping Jordan motivated. Never thought I would see the day where I would be pulling for Rachel to win it all.

I know! She’s a completely different person without Brendon around … which kind of makes you wonder what their lives are going to be like after they’re married. Does she just become needy around him to manipulate him into doing what she wants, or does he make her needy to satisfy his own ego? After seeing his ex-girlfriend last season talk about him, I tend to think Brendon is the real problem and we don’t actually hate Rachel, we hate Brenchel!
Having been directed here by one of your Cliqueclack co-workers, Michael, I am going to pose the same question to you that he saw me post elsewhere:
Who has played the game better, four high profile competition winners sitting in the Jury House, or the dormant Floater who has said farewell to nine other players [ten if you count Brandon twice]? Learning when to duck is a completely under appreciated aspect of the game.
[No, I did not vote to give Adam the win. I just think SOMEONE should be given a pin to burst the over inflated egos already in the Jury House.]
PS – Brendon, why do you assume you are Leader of the Jury House? Shouldn’t that dubious honor go the the latest person to arrive – who did, after all, stay in the game longer than the rest of you?

I have no problem with “floaters” in general because it’s ridiculous to come into the game, especially as a newbie, and play hard right off the bat. You just alienate people that way and get yourself evicted quick. So, in truth, a “floater” is someone who sits back watches what’s going on and devises a strategy to get into the game at the right moment and also plays hard in the competitions.
Kalia started out as a floater because even her partner had an alliance that she wasn’t a part of. She was lucky that Dick left the game so Daniele could befriend her. Winning an HoH moved her to the front burner probably sooner than she wanted, but she has been a strong player since then. Shelly has played the “floater” role beautifully, playing all sides of the house. She just showed her hand at the wrong moment but it seemed like a good move (and that game play is what should have kept her in the house instead of personal issues getting her evicted). Porsche has also “floated” herself to the right point in the game to show that she is a fierce competitor (although I still don’t like her “this is what Daniele would have wanted” strategy).
Adam, however (at least in his TV edit), has shown no skills in strategy or competitions. Remember, the only competition he won was the one Jeff threw. Jeff took him under his wing and the second Jeff was gone, he ran to the other alliance. That alone should have gotten him evicted since Rachel and Jordan were the only two votes that really counted this week. For all their talk of getting rid of the “floaters,” Adam should have been the prime target. There’s “floating” and there’s floating. Adam hasn’t won a challenge and he hasn’t contributed much to any strategy. He’s always doing what someone else tells him to do. He’s great at self-preservation, but he’s made no bold moves in the game, he’s useless in competitions and, frankly, that’s really who you would want to sit next to in the finals … but that’s a lame way to win and a jury full of hurt feelings might reward the guy who didn’t ruffle any feathers. I’d rather see two competitors in the end, and it would have been fine if it had been any of the five remaining women before Shelly’s eviction. I just hope we don’t see Adam in the finals. He’s a great guy, but for being a super fan he’s just not really played the game.
And about Brendon as head of the jury house … I think that relates directly to my feelings about how Rachel behaves when she’s around him. We all grew to despise her annoying bimbo behavior, but now that Brendon is gone we can see a totally different person who does have her head on straight and can play a good game. Brendon is definitely the problem in that relationship, and his “king of the world” attitude in the jury house just highlights that even more.
Still rooting for a vet to win and I think it should be Rachel. I didn’t care for Shelly’s game play, but she broke no rules of the game. She played within the boundaries. The death threats and such are ridiculous. I’m sure they are all different people outside of the house and the show should be viewed as entertainment… not meant to be taken so seriously. I personally LOVE the drama of this game. The live feeds definitely give you a better view of what the houseguests are really like. Rachel is not the villain the show paints her to be… Jeff has a HUGE ego… Adam is funny and likeable… Kalia talks NON-STOP when she’s not eating. Porschia didn’t contribute much or really become visible until just recently. Shelly is a GREAT manipulater, she just overplayed her cards.
