Big Brother – One down, one to go

It's eviction night, and I couldn't be happier. One crazy person has been evicted, a newbie finally gains control of the house, Evel Dick comments on Daniele's game play, and we got more laughs at the expense of Brendon and Rachel. It was a perfect episode.

- Season 13, Episode 13

Brendon is evicted from the Big Brother house

Oh, I feel sorry for someone in the Big Brother house tonight. No, not Rachel … the producers and editors who have had so much fun skewering the couple known as Brenchel. First we got to laugh along with them as they made it a point to show Brendon constantly reminding everyone that Rachel is his fiancé. While he was on the block, we got to laugh as they cried, laugh as Brendon believed he “dropped a bomb” at the veto ceremony (I’m still not convinced anyone was surprised), and laugh as Rachel had yet another meltdown or three.

Her best moment came as she and Brendon tried to work Porsche for a vote (even though she’s basically been on their side from day one), and Porsche — who we’ve barely seen in the past month since she had a Golden Key and basically had to do nothing — offered Rachel some sane advice … stop with the sad act because it’s making everyone uncomfortable. Of course, you can’t offer sensible advice to someone who’s off her rocker, and Rachel blew up at Porsche and Brendon, crying and yelling and whining that no one cares about anyone else in this game (ummm, it’s a game that people are trying to win, not make friends), that America is going to hate her even more (not possible), that she’ll never get a job after this (shoulda thought about that beforehand and played a little more rationally), and that she’s not even that smart (check). It was hilarious, and the best laugh I’ve had all season. Up to that moment, Brendon had Porsche’s vote just so she wouldn’t have to deal with Rachel’s madness, so I thought maybe she would turn but she stuck with her (crumbling) alliance.

It is interesting though that everyone considers Jordan no threat. Has everyone forgotten she won her season? Rachel mentioned that fact to Porsche, but no one else seems concerned that she’s so likable that you can’t not give her the prize in the end.

Dick’s insight into Daniele’s game play is exactly what I thought he was going to say, because I feel exactly the same way. She went after her alliance way to early (even she agrees with that now), and she played Dominic the same way she played Nick in season 8. Daniele’s answer to Julie’s question about patching things up with Rachel was pretty funny too, saying Rachel is acting like Dani has broken up a marriage and will probably kill her after the show.

I think Rachel will just fall apart this week without Brendon in the house. I’m stoked that Kalia won HoH (at least Daniele is safe for another week) and will probably put Rachel up again. Who to put up against her? Probably Jordan, but she’d be better putting Shelly up against her because that’s one less vote for Rachel to stay. Then she can go be with her man — or she can be forced to play against Brendon in next week’s twist as the latest evictee battles against one of the former house guests (who have all been sequestered) to return to the game. My vote — Dominic! What poetic justice it would be for him to win against Rachel (or just gang up on her with Daniele and Kalia). Go to CBS.com and place your vote, and let us know who you want to have a shot to come back into the house (this poll has no impact on the actual voting and is open until 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 11th).

Nice write up. I agree on all points! I hope Brendan comes back just to watch his craziness with Rachel. I think Kahlia would be smart to put up Jeff and Jordan to break up another team. If one gets the veto then throw up Rachel. I don’t know a soul that watches BB but it’s been on for so many years. Odd.

Thank you! I’ve been watching since season three (but I couldn’t get through the one spring season during the writers strike because the houseguests were just awful). I’d relish seeing Brendon compete against Rachel to come back into the house, but it would be such poetic justice for Dominic to have a shot and take her out. And as much as I really can’t stand her theatrics, once Rachel is gone it’s gonna get boring in the house real fast.
