Julie Chen always says, “Expect the unexpected in the Big Brother house,” and she was absolutely right this week as the first eviction of the season took place. If you haven’t watched the show yet, stop right here because we’re going to discuss the eviction and the HoH competition. You have been warned!
When we left off on Wednesday, both Keith and Porsche had thrown the Veto competition because each thought they were safe within their alliances. The vets wanted to keep Porsche for her loyalty (and vote) while the newbies wanted to keep the not-so-right reverend Keith, even though they all thought he was a loose cannon. But Cassi campaigned mightily to keep him, which frankly would have raised suspicions in my mind. I’m pretty surprised Shelly, Porsche, Cassi and Kalia haven’t formed the usual Girl Power alliance. But Keith played way too hard, way too paranoid right off the bat and by a vote of 6 – 4, he got to be the first House Guest to meet Julie Chen. The question now is, will the two newbie votes — Shelly and Kalia — stick with the veterans next week? (It’s funny, but looking at my notes I saw that I had written, “Why aren’t the vets looking to Kalia for a vote?” Maybe they did, or maybe she just wanted to rid herself of the crazy.)
That would probably be in their best interest after the HoH competition. This week, the HGs played a little mini-golf with the players put in order by Rachel. Of course, she wisely stacked the deck by putting all the newbies first so the vets would know what they had to do to win. And shock of all shocks, Jordan won HoH. Okay, she may have had a little help from Jeff and Brendon, who basically blew the last two shots on purpose so she could win. Chivalrous, but it still doesn’t make up for what Jeff said the other day.
Besides Jeff’s homophobic rant, can we all agree that Brendon is a giant tool? What was up with that little temper tantrum after Rachel started yelling her pet name for him across the yard? Okay, so we all know she calls him “Bookey” now (and I just made up that spelling), but to drag her off to the H0H room and then ignore her when she’s saying, “I love you”? Seriously? I remember Brendon’s ex-fiancée last season being interviewed about Brendon and how controlling he could be. He’s a little scary. Run, Rachel, run!
It will be interesting to see who Jordan nominates this week. My bet is on Adam and Dominic simply because neither of them voted with the vets. But, would they want to give either of them a Golden Key? If they get wise to Cassi being in an alliance, she and Shelly could go up with promises of a key for Shelly. I don’t think they see Lawon as a threat … unless they find out he’s aligned with Cassi and Dom, so it will be interesting to see which way the nominations go. Who do you think should go on the block? Take our poll below. One vote per customer; poll closes Sunday, July 17 at 8:00 PM EST.
“You can tell Keith is lying when his lips are moving.” — Porsche
“I’m sorry that you feel demasculintized.” — Rachel, after Brendon got huffy about her screaming his pet name across the yard
“You had a plan coming in.” — Julie Chen
“I did.” — Keith
“It clearly didn’t work.” — Julie
I thought the Brendon “blow-up” in the competition was a joke, and I thought it was pretty funny. I took it as him being silly as he pretended to be upset over the shot he obviously missed on purpose. If I read the situation wrong, he’s a tool; otherwise, he goes up half a notch in my book.
As for nominations, my thought is that Dominic is the next one gone unless he can win the veto. I don’t see any reason to think otherwise. The vets are smart enough not to break their alliance despite any interpersonal issues.
No comment on Julie’s horrible interview of Danielle? “No ‘I love you’?” Was that out of line or what? I don’t feel too strongly about it, other than acknowledging that it was a lousy move, but my friend who watches the show was foaming at the mouth about what a terrible person Julie Chen came off as.
I’ll go looking for it now, but I still don’t know why Dick left. The editors really swept it under the rug – no exit interview or anything. Tells me it probably wasn’t a “personal issue”, and rather a rule breaking issue.
*POST AUTHOR*
No, I’m referring to Brendon’s tantrum with Rachel over the pet name thing and how he wouldn’t even answer her when she kept saying, “I love you.” Brendon’s other blowup in the last episode was a little scary (when Keith was gloating about Dick leaving). He plays the nice guy for TV, but he’s obviously a serious control freak. The HoH competition was just a nice way to let Jordan have the win. I don’t think Brendon wanted all of that responsibility two weeks in a row!
I felt too badly for Daniele to even bring it up again in the post. I expect stupid things to come out of the Chenbot’s mouth, but even that was a bit much.
All I’ve been able to find about Dick leaving is pretty much what was said in the video. He’s saying it was a friend in need and he’s keeping that private. I doubt it was a rule violation because if you’ve ever seen the rule book, you’d know Dick has broken many a rule in the past. As long as it makes for good TV, it’s up to the producers to enforce the rules or let them slide (as long as you don’t “accidentally” toss your mic pack into the hot tub!).
As for the nominations this week, I’ve been listening a bit to the live feeds and I know who they’re talking about putting up … and let’s just say that
SPOILER ALERT:
neither of us is too far off base!
