It took me a while to take to The Big Bang Theory, but when the hook was finally set, I knew I was in for life. And this week I made a realization that I might actually be able to contribute to the show in a meaningful way (and by “contribute to the show in a meaningful way” I mean a casting suggestion that no one of relevance would ever really listen to). Unfortunately, I found out this particular role has already been cast (and appeared, I’d really forgotten), and, no offense, they really missed out on something great.
We first heard about Amy Farrah Fowler’s mother in the first episode Sheldon’s new not-girlfriend first appeared. AFF’s (because I’m not calling her just Amy, because that plain doesn’t sound right) blind date with Sheldon was a result of a deal she made with her mother. We finally got to meet her (via Skype, natch) with AFF and Sheldon tried to insinuate they were having … relations:
Annie O’Donnell was a solid choice, and played deadpan as good as anyone. I’m just not sure that’s the direction I would have gone. But, let me ramble for a quick second.
I’d like to think I’m a pretty good single father. Let me be clear … I don’t have a son or a daughter, but I do have a puppy who thinks that he should be just as important as a kid would be. As I am a wonderfully loving dad, I will leave the stereo on (usually playing whatever I left on the cable box, and not necessarily music). When I came home yesterday, I thought it must have been playing a repeat of a recent episode of Big Bang Theory, as I was hearing Amy Farrah Fowler. It was only when I realized who she was talking to that I recognized how wrong I was.
I’m thinking that Lilith Sternin-Crane has to be related to Amy Farrah Fowler in some way, shape, form, or fashion. Maybe the aunt she idolized? Make it happen, Chuck Lorre!
