Vampire Diaries – What does Jules want with Tyler?

Everybody talked a good game in this episode, and even made it look good at times, but they've all got a secret agenda.

- Season 2, Episode 13 - "Daddy Issues"

“I can’t believe it. Elena is my sister’s husband’s brother’s daughter and her mother is my boyfriend’s deceased wife. You can’t make this stuff up.” – Jenna

See, now here Jonathan is, being all super-dad and the like, and his agenda is really to free Katherine. What for? For Isobel? What power does she hold over him? I find that whole relationship completely bizarre and can’t quite figure out how Jonathan came back into the picture after Isobel left Alaric. This show can be so … incestuous. Everyone’s related, and I think Jenna said it best (see above quote).

What’s Jules want with Tyler really? Wanting to help him seems a bit altruistic for this conniving bitch — did she know about the moonstone all along? Does she just want to poison Tyler’s mind so she gets help killing the vampires? I think Caroline telling off Tyler holds a bit more mileage with him than Jules and her “come to the dark side” crap. It irks me just a bit that it took episodes to build up the trust between Caroline and Tyler and because she spurns his kiss (and tells him off), he’s suddenly a hater. Grow up, Tyler … the moonstone isn’t the kind of stone(s) you need.

Probably Dr. Martin really is just a pawn in Elijah’s game, and he may even believe that Elijah is a man of his word. Am I remembering correctly that Elijah said he’d protect Elena’s friends and family, but he didn’t necessarily promise that he’d let Elena live? Yeah, that’s coming back, you can be sure of that.

At least Damon’s agenda is out in the open: killing women to distract himself from his love of Elena … yeah, that’s healthy. I’m not sure he’s really all that self-actualized though — he really is the man that Elena sees, it’s just easier for him to be the bad guy.

This and that:

  • Looks like Bonremy is back on now that Bonnie can’t trust Luca.
  • Watching Caroline get tortured was probably more painful for me that it was for her … props to Candice Accola for her perfect screams and broken looks.
  • Aw, if Matt only knew why Caroline was lying … you’re killing me, Vampire Diaries!

This episode seemed disjointed to me. Although we lost Rose and Luca, it still felt like it had too many characters, (which I never felt before).

Considering Kona’s post about female violence, how many people does Damon have to blatantly kill before people stop forgiving him? I LOVE that we have a vampire not doing penance. I know it’s his personality. And, yes, almost everyone on the show has committed (or served as an accomplice) to murder, but Damon’s becoming a serial killer at this point.

I’m glad we didn’t see Luca this week. However, both Jeremy and Bonnie seemed like an after-thought. Also Bonnie seemingly became paler this week (while gaining more eye makeup and less hair).
