Survivor – Let’s make a deal

This week, Espada wins big while back at La Flor Jane plays camp mom and Marty plays a game of 'Let's Make a Deal' with Sash and the Hidden Immunity Idol. Will Marty win the Big Deal of the Day or is a zonk in his future?

- Season 21, Episode 7 - "What Goes Around, Comes Around"

I’m still a little miffed about Kelly B’s elimination last week, thinking about all the talk of sympathy votes. Then we look at Dan hobbling around camp and failing miserably in a challenge because not only can he not run, he can’t jump either. His tribe still managed to win the reward challenge, and they’re keeping him around because he’s not a threat … but if everyone sees him as a non-threat and thinks he’s the one to beat at the final Tribal Council I’d think to myself, if I was on the jury, that Dan has made it this far with that bad knee and was never able to play in a challenge effectively and yet here he is. Dan you get my sympathy vote for sticking it out that long! It baffles me as to why, if Espada wants a strong tribe, they keep Dan around. Well, we’ll see how quickly things change next week with the merge. Will the old tribal alliances fall back into place?

This week’s Survivor didn’t really have much drama, but at least there were two challenges. I like those episodes better because if there’s no drama, a one challenge episode is a real drag. There were some interesting moments this week, from Fabio relieving himself in the pool used for the Reward Challenge to NaOnka actually participating in cow milking! My favorite moment of the night – actually all of my favorite moments – involved Jane. She is a hoot and a half! She plays Marty like a fiddle, she does all the work around camp and knows it’s all for show for the younger members of the tribe and she catches some pretty big fish. She has some great commentary at Tribal, and best of all she sneaks off into the jungle to cook herself a whole fish and manages not to get caught! You go Jane! I hope the merge doesn’t screw up her game and that maybe her tribe mates will bring her into their fold if the original younger tribe regroups. It will be really interesting to see how Jane and Holly function at that point.  I would think Dan and Marty would be the first to go, but I just worry that Jane is really going to have to start putting up at challenges and winning immunity to stay in the game longer.

Last week I thought Marty was stupid and arrogant with his Immunity Idol, and this week I thought that he was just plain stupid for giving it to Sash. Is Sash really going to keep his word and return it to Marty next week, especially with the merge taking place? I’m not sure if La Flor really wants to get rid of Marty because this is the second time they’ve had a chance to vote him out. He’s much more of a threat than Jill, so he hands over the Idol and they waste another chance. He could come back strong next week.  Sash’s Freudian slip at Tribal would have really made me reconsider my vote. He’s got the Idol and the power immediately went to his head. He would have gotten my vote for the comment, “If I lose faith in my tribe”! I would have liked to see him just play the idol to get rid of it, but they got rid of Jill instead. I liked her but as long as Jane is still in the game, all is well with the world of Survivor.
