The Vampire Diaries – If Damon is the “D” word, what’s Caroline?

As if Stefan and Damon didn't offer us enough supernatural struggles, now we've got three other supes to entertain us in the coming episodes. In the words of Katherine, "Game on!"

- Season 2, Episode 2 - "Brave New World"

All I can say about Caroline is that I’m glad she seems to be a fast learner. Seeing her control her vamp-face when she was with Matt at the end of the episode was a really welcome sight. The Powers That Be of The Vampire Diaries could have gone a different way and recreated Caroline as Vicki 2.0, but instead we get a few moods swings, a little murder and some good old-fashioned will power. Very nice. Now how are they going to get that girl a ring? Maybe Bonnie can just work a spell for her to be out in the daytime.

Speaking of Bonnie, I wonder if Mystic Falls has a good anger management course she can enroll in, because she may complain about Damon, but she’s far more unstable than he is. I wrote last season about Bonnie being a big bitch and I’m still down with that. Actually, strike that — she’s a complete psycho. Bonnie needs to take a self-control lesson from Caroline. Maybe Bonnie’s just pissed because Caroline ate her potential boyfriend.

This and that:

  • I found it completely hilarious that Damon’s name has become a four-letter-word. Will Caroline be a “C” word now?
  • When Caroline freaked out in the hospital room on Matt and he said he’d just come back later, due to his nonchalance I really expected to hear him say, “Like when you don’t have your period.”
  • I love how Bonnie takes her anger out on Damon and gives him the headache, tries to set him on fire … anger management, Bonnie, anger management.
  • So clever when Damon made fun of werewolves not existing.
  • Tyler has the moonstone, which I’m wondering a lot about. I’m thinking that it might help control the wolf, since the mayor functioned fine (when he wasn’t beating the crap out of his kid) and that’s why Mason wants it.
  • Hmmmm … I’m not sure what to make of Damon and Jeremy bonding over their vamp-hating dads. It was unexpected, that’s for sure.

I liked this episode and thought it was a good follow-up to last week’s amazing second season premiere. Are you still loving The Vampire Diaries?

I think that Bonnie really is angry, because she thinks it is her fault that Caroline is a vampire. Bonnie is the one who gave the go ahead for Caroline’s life to be saved via vampire blood. So, Bonnie feels extremely guilty about it and is taking it out on Damon and others.

That’s a good point. I didn’t even consider her guilt in this matter b/c I was so colored by her extremely poor judgment from last season’s shenanigans with the spell. She’s a vampire bigot! ;-)

At least she can make up for it with a day-walking ring
