Poll: What summer TV character makes you laugh the most?

IVEY: You’re really going to me pick between Jason [from True Blood ] and [Leverage ‘s] Parker? One is plain damn stupid, and the other is smart but clueless. Both are funny as hell.

BRETT: I’m left debating whether the exclusion of Spencer Shay [iCarly] was an oversight, or a deliberate slight which should offend me. But since I like you, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the hot New England summer… a youngster with more energy than good reason would give him… and the general distraction that comes from having the power of the internet at your fingertips provides… have all combined to make you overlook a little show called iCarly. (Even if it does have more viewers than every other show on your list.) Considering a new episode aired a week and a half ago, I think it qualifies. So, that’s me nominating Spencer. I would also have accepted Gibby.

From the provided list… I would have to go with Parker. Ivey sums her up very well as being smart, but clueless. It’s a difficult balance doing that with a character. The people writing Bones could learn a thing or two from how Parker has been handled on Leverage.

[No deliberate slight — though, really? iCarly? — in fact, you’ll see I congenially added Spencer to the poll!]

AN: Aren’t Shawn and Gus essentially the same person not separated at birth? Like ’80s potato chip ads, can you really choose just one?

Does my female chauvinism show through if I request you ask that question again but with topless pictures of the actors playing Jason and Pete? [Yes it does, but your wish is my command….]

JULIA: I’m torn between Shawn and Mozzie, but ultimately I go with Shawn, because he’s in every episode and Mozzie sometimes takes weeks off. Parker’s probably my favorite character, but she also makes me sniffle and feel warm and fuzzy when she goes and gets feelings more than she makes me laugh.

TARA: If you ask me, well. I’d love to be watching True Blood, but don’t have extras on the ole cable. So I will do what I usually do, and wait for the DVDs and have a three-day marathon with it. In terms of laughing at anyone this summer, it’s been Gordon Ramsay. (Shocker!) Some quotes….

• “How many legs does a fucking lobster have?”
• “You Donkey! It’s RAW!”

and my favorite …

• “So much for not fucking swearing.”

MICHAEL: Drama, Entourage.

A more whiny, cry baby-ish, self-absorbed, self-satisfying, chock-full-of-nuts, second-guessing, Teflon-coated, chicken-livered, glamor-craving, drama-esque overflowing weasel doesn’t exist anywhere else on television at the moment.

And that, my friends, makes me laugh. At him … not with him.

“Drama” … indeed.
