Burn Notice’s great moments from ‘Fast Friends’

I'm still on the fence as to whether or not Jesse's presence is going to help or hurt the chemistry amongst the characters on 'Burn Notice,' but I do know that this series is still delivering awesome character-driven moments in every episode.

- Season 4, Episode 2 - "Fast Friends"

“… now you’re going to meet with this Vince guy?” – Sam
“Vaughn.” – Michael
“Vaughn. Good name for a vampire.” – Sam

The Burn Notice magic is not gone. To me, it’s not about the mystery of the burn or even the cases of the week. This series has developed some quirky characters and it’s the moments those characters create that make Burn Notice a little more special than your average action show.

Sam’s sweaty silk shirt
That was funny, and just enough attention was made of it. Sam complaining to Michael and wanting him to pay the dry cleaning bill was great, but the fact that we got to see the sweat stains in all of their glory when Sam was throwing the bike chain was a stroke of brilliance. And who knew Sam Axe has such a great arm?

Mike offers Jesse yogurt
The constant eating of yogurt never gets old. It was just elevated last night when Jesse, the spy that Mike inadvertently burned, thanked him for the yogurt. Such a funny shout-out, and now all the viewers are wondering if yogurt is some kind of a super-spy food … I know I am.

Madeline’s renter’s cat found some old detonators
Whoops! We didn’t need to see this to have it be funny, but what a great way to free up the newly renovated garage apartment for Jesse. C’mon, you knew he was going to end up living there the moment Mike got out the nail gun and Sam started laying the tiles.

Getting Khan to put the guns in his trunk trick
Mike as a con man still works for me. Somehow he is able to manipulate even the most evil of minds into doing his bidding. Taking in the persona of a slightly bumbling, not-too-trustworthy guy was just enough to get the bad guys to insist on overloading their trunk with tons of illegal weaponry — and getting caught by the police.

Fi’s meeting with Barry
We know Fi’s definitely got her own style, one the viewers have embraced. It was great to see Barry give it some admiration tonight though. When Fiona clomped into Bary’s meeting with a potential client, told him to skedaddle and pulled up her shirt to show him the gun she had stashed in her pants, Barry’s retort was awesome: “Fi … you just cost me a client. Although that was smokin’ hot.”

Madeline sharing her best gun cleaner with Jesse
After preaching to Michael that she needs a little stability in her life with a nice renter (which didn’t work out — see cat and detonators above), Madeline changes her tune and shares her best gun cleaner with Jesse, in a display of acceptance for the latest unstable force in her life. And she seals it with a quote: “What kind of sissy wouldn’t sleep with a gun under his pillow anyways?”

I’m curious to see how Jesse fits in with the trio. They’re such a perfect team as-is, and then we get them all playing ff Madeline in their own way. Will Jesse’s presence help or hurt the chemistry? So far, I like it and next week’s previews leave me very excited to see them work on a case together that isn’t Jesse’s.

What do you think — is Burn Notice hot this season?
