So You Think You Can Dance – Let’s begin all over again

Are you ready for a new season of impossible moves?

- Season 7, Episode 1 - "Season Premiere"

And we’re off and running with a new season of So You Think You Can Dance.

For those of you who may be new to the program, here’s some of what you can expect:

You can expect to see someone as frantic on stage as Teddy Tedholm, 18, from Rockaway, New Jersey (video below). Seeing a performer such as he is a real privilege. And even better is the fact you get to witness him make it through to the Vegas round. Stuff like this is what SYTYCD is all about. That’s the kick of the show for me.

Then, you can expect the type of performer that Chris “Isolock” Dixon is.  While his dance routine is definitely something to take in (below), it turns out he just couldn’t cut it in the choreography round, where traditional instruction and structure are the order of the day. Unfortunately, Chris couldn’t cut it. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t terrific in his own right.

And that, in a nutshell, is what you can expect out of this show. You get some of the best out there and they get put on the stage for all to see. But … and it’s a big “but” … they’ve got to be able to take direction and adapt to different forms — some they’ll no doubt be able to conform to, others they will struggle with mightily. No matter what kind of dancer they are.

And there’s the rub. If they can make the cut, they’ve got a chance. Watching them get that chance — and capitalizing on it — is a spiffy journey to take in and be a part of.

So … are you ready to get this season of SYTYCD underway and give it a go? The competitors are … and they’re the ones with the tough job.

You, on the other hand, have the easy one; you just have to sit back and take it all in.

Besides the lock guy Edward Spots was one of my favorites, beautiful guy and a beautiful dancer.

Yes. Good dancer … worthy dancer, Oreo.

But he just didn’t quite trip my trigger. We’ll see what he does in Vegas … that much is known.
