V – Fun aboard the mother ship

'V' continued the fast paced fun in this episode, with an undercover high staked mission aboard the mother ship.

- Season 1, Episode 6 - "Pound of Flesh"

Through the first five episodes of the season, V has set a fast and action-packed pace. This episode did nothing to alter that precedent. This week we were treated to an undercover mission on the V mother ship in an effort to get a message out to the Fifth Column all over the world and let them know that the game was on.

Has anyone else noticed a new, narrower focus for the show as compared to the first four episodes? V has only been back for two episodes now, but it seems like Tyler and Decker have certainly taken a back seat to the rebellion/war story line. If this truly is a slight refocus of the show, I’m all for it. Heck, I would have been thrilled if Tyler just stayed with his dad and laid low for a few episodes, but it looks like he is destined to head back to the V ship with Lisa. There is a little bit of intrigue surrounding Tyler. Is his father not really his father? Is he adopted? Is he half V and doesn’t know it?

Decker was a character that never really worked for me. With Father Jack starting a dialogue with him about the resistance, however, I have hope. He would become infinitely more interesting if he were a double agent, covering the V in the overly positive light while trying to bring them down. It would definitely add a welcome new dimension to the character.

I have mentioned before that I thought Ryan’s hybrid baby was going to be unique and important. In this episode, however, I got the sense that there had been hybrids born in the past (which led me to wonder about Tyler’s parentage). When Joshua was discussing the phosphorous with Ryan, he made it sound like he had been through a similar situation in the past, perhaps having close knowledge of other V/human babies. Did anyone else get that?

I thought for sure that Georgie was done for when he sacrificed himself for Ryan on the ship. I didn’t think the Visitors would put up with that kind of behavior. How silly was I? Of course they are torturing him for information. I imagine that they are incredibly good at dealing out pain as well. With a complete lack of empathy and the ability to heal virtually any wounds, I’m sure they can get anyone to say just about anything. I’ve grown fond of Georgie, though, and I hope that the resistance will be able to save him, even if the mere thought of that is ludicrous. It makes me glad that this isn’t a logical show — it’s a fun, escapist sci-fi treat.

As gorgeous as some of these lizard V’s are, nobody does it better than Xev (Zev). These lizards wouldn’t stand a chance against her. Another entertaining episode.

Another really solid episode. I totally agree Bob, this show is great fun. Not ground breaking, but I’m enjoying every minute!
