OK, I know I butchered the lyric, but sometimes you just have to make it work, right? Excuse the pun-ish segue, but the New Directions team surely had to figure things out at the last minute this week, and they damn well made it work. Glee finished its fall run in incredible form. Big answers, big musical numbers, and Sue takes a big fall. Pretty much about as satisfying an episode they could provide, almost taking the sting off of the long hiatus. Almost.
“Don’t Rain on My Parade”
The Sectionals performances were simply amazing. Rachel, and obviously the amazing Lea Michelle, prove that divas — for all of the trouble that follow them around — are what they are for a reason. I dare say that was better than Babs herself. Girl definitely knows how to make an entrance. And the Stones would also be proud. It was said in the Live-Blog/Chat that it was a better than “Don’t Stop Believing” as a group performance, and while I’m not sure I’d go that far (that performance still gets me), it was pretty damn close.
“My Life Would Suck Without You”
Emma was on tonight. The smack down of the other Glee Club coaches was impressive. Defending her students (And Brittany’s comment about the bird in her locker, disturbing as it really was, reminds that they are her students too) proves that, despite her awkardness, she is a heck of an educator. And you can’t really blame her for wanting to keep her distance from a so-recently-separated Will. He’s obviously damaged goods right now, and in for some rocky times. Thankfully, for the fans, Will proved that the drama is worth the drama, and nailed her with the slow walk, great kiss.
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want”
Baby drama resolution, week two. Last week’s performances by Jessalyn Gilsig and Matt Morrison were outstanding. This week, it was Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith’s turn to shine. I thought Agron was particularly heart breaking and solidified herself right then and there as my favorite character on the show. Where this story goes from here, I’m not entirely sure. I think Puck and Quinn make an interesting enough couple, but truly, only short term. It’s not time for Puck to stop being the Junior Varsity Barney Stinson. And Quinn won’t be able to walk away from ole Frankenteen so easily.
Other thoughts:
Great, great episode! If the show failed this would have also been a rather nice finale.
Come April I don’t want to see the wife ever again! lol
That was… just wow.
I’m surprised to find I don’t hate anyone involved: Terri, Emma, Quinn, Puck, even Sue. I can’t wait to see them again.
And it was amusing to learn that Brittany and Santana are “dating.”
I thought I was having True Blood withdrawal when I saw Sarah Newlin was one of the judges!
I understand why Quinn’s parents weren’t there and I am sure Finn’s mom believed he wasn’t going but where were the rest of the group’s parents? I can’t imagine Rachel’s dads would miss it.
I can’t decide who I love more Artie or Kurt – man can they sling the one liners!
Last night’s Glee was the best….. both Rachel and Mercedes had incredible solos. So glad to be rid of Terri and the damn pregnancy pad even if it turns out to be temporary.
Sue has always been the monster you love to hate/love, but last night, she went beyond to me…. I actually didn’t like her at all, or enjoy watching her performance, she was THAT mean. Maybe that means she’s a super actress, but I had had enough at the end of the episode. Can’t imagine how they will bring her back after she has been fired?
Can’t believe there’s no new Glee until April! Sux for us!
Just watched last night and loved this episode! So many songs — yeah! — and so much happened, I can’t wait to see the fallout in April.
