Dexter – Trinity’s title turns out inaccurate

As usual with Dexter, things really pickup the pace in the last four-or-so episodes of a season. And, as usual, it makes me nervous as hell.

- Season 4, Episode 10 - "Lost Boys"

Dexter and Harry

As usual with Dexter, things really pick up the pace in the last four-or-so episodes of a season. And, as usual, it makes me nervous as hell. It’s when Dexter gets crazy focused on what he’s set out to do that it looks like he could easily slip up and make mistakes. When you’re a serial killer, there’s never room for mistakes, though Dexter’s certainly shown he’s capable of them. Now, though, we have a sleep-deprived, mistake-prone and family-driven guy who is brushing everything and everyone aside to keep his eye on the “prize.” It doesn’t look good.At first I thought Dexter could eventually use the news of Rita’s little transgression against her later, using it as leverage whenever he wants to do his own thing. However, he’s making an awful example of himself and isn’t winning any points with the family, with not being there when he should be. It doesn’t matter if work is an excuse — Dexter will find out mighty fast that, though work is obviously a more noble reason for not being there for the family, it’s no excuse.

Rita can’t be long for this show without a complete makeover in the annoyance department. It was good to see that she didn’t read into what Cody’s fellow Young Sailor said about Dexter skipping out at night, so I’m not sure why that was even brought up in the episode at all. Was it to wake Dex up a bit into how careless he’s really becoming? Against the other strange things Dexter’s done, it seems this one would be simple to explain and blow off as nonsense.

I liked the little twist of Arthur not really being a “Trinity” killer and is instead a … what, Quad killer? Not sure I dig the sound of that, but Trinity surely doesn’t fit now. I will say I was totally creeped out and disturbed at the thought of Mitchell killing all of those young boys, encasing them alive in a tomb of cement. Will that news ever get out to Miami Metro so they can put the other families at peace, or there is such a thing when learning of a missing child’s fate?

With only two episodes left, and with Mitchell’s first of his four rituals thwarted, will he remain focused on carrying out the other three, or will he start over? Will he turn to anyone Dexter knows and loves? So far Mitchell doesn’t appear to know who Dexter really is, though I half expected to see that he followed Dexter home, in the final scene of the episode. I’m not sure I buy that Mitchell will tear into Dexter’s family, though … at least not yet.

Mitchell is now officially boring me to death. Does that make him a Quint Killer now?

“who is brushing everything…”
well, except for his hair.
great episode – but you left out all the deb/reporter stuff!
and matsuka trying to tell dex the entire episode what he saw on thanksgiving was great.

Tetrad Killer?

Fortunately (?), the boys will have suffocated long before they would have woken from the drugged ice cream.

I was really bummed to see that quinns girlfriend was arrested. I was hoping to see a daddy daughter dual table killing at the end of the season.
