The Ratings Game – FlashForward

sonya-walger101409FlashForward has had an interesting run in its first three episodes. After being one of the most hyped shows leading into the season, the show kicked things off with 12.47 million viewers and a 4 demo.  Those numbers are of particular note, as both of them topped perennial Thursday at 8 champ, Survivor. Week two brought the expected drop, and found the show with 10.73 million viewers and a 3.7. Still solid, but it fell behind Survivor in viewers. Week three is where things get really interesting.

With the show falling to 9 million viewers and a 3 demo, Survivor reclaimed the top spot, and Bones moved to number two in viewers. The iffy bit here is that week three also had playoff baseball to contend with, which could have contributed to those lower than expected numbers. That leaves week four up in the air. Which way will the numbers go? As CJ suggested, it sounds like a good idea for another ratings game. I believe the 9 million viewers was an anomaly, and the number will bounce back this week. So, I’m setting the over/under at 10.25 million. You make the call in the poll, and leave your best guess for the viewer number in the comments. Winner can pick the show for the next ratings game.

As with game one, we’ll go with the overnight numbers that come out Friday morning. Make your guess to two decimal places (ex. 14.79). The only restriction on the show picked for the next ratings game is that it be on one of the five broadcast networks. Cable numbers are hit and miss in a timely fashion. Of course, nobody would complain if you picked the return of Dollhouse on the 24th. I’m just sayin’….

Update: The numbers are in, and the 37% that took the under were right. It’s a trend! FlashForward was up over last week’s series low, but just barely, finishing with 9.12 million viewers. That means bsgfan2003 wins again, missing by just .34, just edging out Oreo who was off by only .36. Impressive predictions.

I thought Flash Forward was my idea for this week! ;) What’s next a Joseph Fiennes photo….?!

Your FlashForward pick is coming in the weekly ratings post, where FlashForward will lead things off, with a much bigger photo that will certainly not feature Joseph Fiennes. :D

It will rebound a tiny bit to maybe 9.48mil. I voted for downhill trend because after this week I think it will continue to drop.

ABC shouldn’t have screwed with Invasion.

I’m going with 10.45m.

Hoping that news of a full season pickup will secure a few more viewers this week!

I’m guessing the numbers will continue to fall, and fall. Not because of quality though.

My guess is 8.78.

For the show’s sake, I really hope you are wrong. Full season pickup or not. If it gets really bad numbers, it could end up opposite Dollhouse.

Are you on twitter, BSG?

Sorry no. I don’t have a good reason either.

I hope I’m wrong too. It just seems to me that these are honeymoon numbers and people will start dropping off because a show like this asks them to work a little.

We’ll see *rubs hands together*!

Congrats on the win!!!

I thought Oreo won. No?

I predict 10.78 – I’m expecting the show to be a huge hit. Here’s an interview with Robert J. Sawyer, author of the FlashForward novel https://paullev.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=527907
