Greek – Cappie and Dale are the new Cappie and Rusty, AND Dale and Rusty

scott michael foster as cappie greekclark_duke_dale_03

This friendship was a stroke of genius by the writers! As opposed to a few months ago, when Cappie and Dale were merely secret phone buddies, they are now not only confidants, but also the founders, and sole members, of Booktacular, their book club. Just awesome.

I love that Casey is apparently a girl that the pair “has in common,” and that they did battle over the Catholic recruiter chick (Got God?) — Dale interested in her religion, Cappie solely in what lies skin deep. The mere fact that Dale turned to Catholicism for his absolution, because their rites are stricter than his own … classic Daley.

The great thing is that this is getting explored in the first place. I think the entire relationship was accidentally backed into, something sensed from a moment here or there in chapters one through three. Back then Dale was more of a judger, and what we saw of Cappie left more behavior to be judged. When Dale and Cappie got drunk and hung out at that polymer science nerd-fest back in chapter three, the legend began.

In chapter four, it was all about, “wouldn’t it be funny if we referenced their friendship?” And that it was; but nothing can compare to seeing the two on screen as a team.

Their success has also guaranteed us more of both actors, which was a major complaint that I’ve had of late. True, it’s disappointing that Dale doesn’t seem to be getting in much Rusty or Calvin time — Calvin barely made it into this week’s episode — but last season that would have meant no Duke at all. And yes, Rusty without Cappie makes for a rather dull Rusty, but any Foster is better than none.

How’s my batting average? Nothing lost from my 3.5 last week, but nothing new on the horizon. #1 (Casey and Cappie on and off again) is looking like a promising bet, but more of a long-hauler … I’d imagine I won’t be able to call that one until at least the end of this chapter. I guess we stand firm at .269.

Dale and Cappie are all good, all the time. Even so, there’s always a quotable moment that stands head and shoulders above the rest. This week’s? Here’s what happened when Dale told Cappie about his night of passion with Sheila:

“It was magical … ly disgusting. She made noises like a banshee; it was like a farm animal in late-stage labor. Leaving me feeling as soiled as a veterinarian’s glove.” – Dale

“Are you sure that you did it right?” – Cappie

Oh, boys!

I love it that Dale said that he didn’t love her, let alone like her… yet slept with her… funny!

I think he was just hurting from the sting of sin and rejection. I know he was drunk, but clearly he felt something for her….

Their loss is our gain — yes, that’s in the correct order. ;)

i never thought he fit in Greek once he started dating Casey. its like they didnt know what to do with him. his character on MP looks promising though.

Okay, I will admit – I did like Max as Rusty’s RA, science guru, and friend. But that too turned bitter when the romance began. Even his dueling with Capppie wasn’t as sweet as I would have imagined it could have been. But, from college to the adult sex-romp of Melrose (at least, the one of old)? Big leap, no?

Have you seen the Pilot of MP? he actually has morals & what-not in the ep. He actually fits as a beginner film maker.

I hope he’s successful in a new home (far away from Greek), but I haven’t seen it, and it’s definitely not on my to do list. Remaking Melrose Place (and 90210) is like saying that it was a standard bearer for the last generation, and so must be made available, in an accessible way, to the current generation. Plus, I shed myself of all CW shows; when they canned Aliens in America they lost me forever.

WTF? Not even Supernatural? Damn you’re missing an excellent show!

I never watched the first gen 90210/MP (yay netflix) so i don’t hate on the new stuff. I do hate on some of the new actors/actresses that play some of the characters though.

Nope – no horror, science fiction, or supernatural stuff for me. I’m okay with that. ;-)
