The Week Ahead – The Bachelorette makes her choice and Ty saves Britain!

Ty PenningtonJust because most of your broadcast TV shows are gone for the summer, doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch. And you know we wouldn’t leave you hanging. So here’s a rundown of some of this week’s hotspots.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

  • HBO has The Yes Men Fix the World, a rather odd documentary film featuring a couple of guys pretending to be big corporate bigwigs. They then propose ideas, like how to calculate the value of a human life against profits. So think Michael Moore with humor, maybe? (Mon. 9pm, MTV)
  • Ty Pennington takes his special brand of makeover magic to England, to try and revitalize a town and their park project, in Ty’s Great British Adventure. Think of it as Extreme  Makeover: UK Edition. (Sun. 8pm, ABC)
  • Sunday offers a couple of “best of” specials. First up is the Top 20 performances of all time, on a special America’s Best Dance Crew (9pm, MTV). And then later, stick around for Comedy Central’s Burned: The Roasts’ Most Outrageous Moments, looking at the best of their celebrity roast series (10pm).
  • The play on words is just so clever I can’t take it. It’s too much. And it’s got Cybill Shepherd as a woman going back to Smith College to finish her education. Her character’s name is Washington which gives you … oh this is so rich … Mrs. Washington Goes to Smith! So good, so good. (Sat. 9pm, Hallmark)
  • Poker comes to network primetime, even if it is a Saturday, with NBC’s special Face the Ace. Amateurs against pros for $1,000,000. Does NBC even have that much money anymore? (Sat. 9pm)
  • The Legally Blonde film franchise heads to ABC Family for their next feature, Legally Blondes. No Reese Witherspoon in the cast, but it does follow her character’s cousins as they journey from England to a California prep school. (Sun. 8pm)

BEGINNINGS

  • FOX has a new “Bachelor” style show, with what they’re calling normal-sized people. On More to Love, the bachelor is about 300 pounds, and the bachelorettes are plus-sized as well. (Tue. 9pm, FOX)
  • Tired of New York and New Jersey? Well, The Real Housewives of Atlanta are back with their southern … charm? (Thu. 10pm, Bravo)
  • DirecTV subscribers will get the chance to continue watching The Nine, and maybe find out what happened in that bank robbery, starting with the 10th episode. (Wed. 10pm)
  • P. Puff Diddy Daddy Combs is back, trying to make a rock band this time, in Making His Band. (Mon. 10pm, MTV)

ENDINGS

  • Who will Jillian choose in The Bachelorette? (Mon. 8pm, ABC) With foot-fetish gone, does anyone care? Hasn’t she banged all of them by now, anyway? Find out all the dirt on The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose special. (Tue. 10pm, ABC)
  • Find out who’s got the look, as TV Land wraps the second season of She’s Got the Look. (Thu. 9pm)
  • Also wrapping are the third season of Charm School (Mon. 9pm, VH1), The Superstars (Tue. 8pm, ABC), Deadliest Catch (Tue. 9pm, Discovery), The Lazy Environmentalist (Tue. 9pm, Sundance), The Next Food Network Star (Sun. 9pm, Food), and Kendra (Sun. 10pm, E!)

You’re using the phrase “highlights of the week” pretty fast and loose! :)
