How I Met Your Mother – Who’s that tapping Ted’s shoulder?

HIMYM Umbrella girl

Earlier today, CBS posted on Twitter that we shouldn’t miss tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, since it would have a “surprise ending.” As soon as we saw Ted grab the yellow umbrella from his apartment before heading out, I knew that tweet from CBS wasn’t lying.

So, was it that Robin was lying about the food poisoning and was really pregnant? Was it that Barney would make Lily his 199th conquest, despite Marhall’s threats? Or, would we really, truly, finally see the face of the future Mrs. Ted Mosby?

If you believe Stella Zinman really is the mother, then perhaps we just did.

I’m still not convinced we’re going to find out that Stella’s the mother. There’s still some crazy stuff to consider, like the goat in the apartment, for example. It’s been said before that it’s more likely that the mother is one of Stella’s friends. I believe that more than I believe that we’d get the reveal of the illusive Mrs. Mosby before any sort of finale.

Other great things in this episode:

  • Marshall’s charts, in particular the ‘Ranking of Presidents (by how dirty their names sound)': “Johnson, Bush, Harding, Polk, Filmore, Pierce, LBJ, Hoover, Bush, Clinton.”
  • Barney’s 1% success rate, even at 200 women.
  • Marshall to barney: “Oh no, don’t be me wrong — you’re disgusting, and the cops should probably clamp a boot on your genitals…”
  • Not seeing the face of Barney’s 200th conquest, Pauline. “Every inch of her tasted like roast beef and creatine.”

After this episode, do you think Stella’s the mother?

the fish jokes make a reappearance. And it has to be a friend of Stella’s that she hooks him up with to repay for leaving him. Or maybe it’ll end up her sister that would be odd

another thing to note.. marshall said that the record was for barney’s 16 years of sexual activity. that would make him 39 yrs old. way older than the rest of the characters..like 8-9 years.

but didn’t they joke awhile ago that barney started young when he was giving them fake first stories based off movie plots? But yea if Barney’s only 30-31 and if i remember he didn’t start having sex til 19 or something Marshall’s math is all wrong..which is why he’s a lawyer

nope. it’s where he says he lost his virginity to rhonda when he was 23, all depressed n pathetic.
but i don’t think they mean him to be that old (39). probably just an oversight.
it’s like when in the first season marshall tells the guy in the bar that he’s never been in a fight before and in the fourth season it is revealed that he had a lot of dangerous fights with his brothers.
i watched the 4 seasons in like 2 weeks so it’s all fresh.
:)

It makes him 28… He started his conquest when he was 12.

Which means he was unsuccessful for many years since he was a virgin until he was in his 20s. Wow, they aren’t piecing this together well. But That conquest started at 12 according to this episode

and the ‘xxy’ joke was funny too.

Yikes, I’m one of three “No”. We should have an office lottery about this…

“Why don’t you built me up…”

I’ll give you and Brett credit here. If he was supposed to be with the woman who taped him on his shoulder, than I too wish it were Victoria. However, I think that this is the lead in to him meeting the mother, so we’re golden.

Yup I’m hoping that too but I guess it won’t be her nor Stella but rather a whole new Actress/Character *sigh*

Looks like Cliqueclacks Twitter feed tells me me and the (currently) 9 other guys/gals were right :-)

First time I noticed this show has a laugh track; maybe I should stop watching it.

Loved that the GNB Charts Department clerk Marshall went to was also Lady from Scrubs.

I really, truly hope Stella is not the mother because I cannot stand this character. There is NO chemistry between her and Ted. None.

I think the mother is either a friend of Stella’s or of Tony’s.

In an episode where Ted is imagining that Stella is ‘the mother’ it comes back to present time when he’s talking to his children and they both have blonde hair as stella walks up behind them, so I don’t think that she is the mother because that is a pretty obvious hint that it is someone else.

Agreed with you Sammy and Krystyn ! But Ian, let’s not forget that he is over 30. Like Ted said : ” The Big 3-0 ! You and I were the first ones to hit it !”
So, since hes talking o fthe group, i’d say, rally, his no such a good “player”, really… You know why ? “Parce que j’ai le jeu, mes chiennes…” ;)

stella cannot be the mother. think a bit, if Ted told his kids his story about stella and his ruined mariage ect.;well he should have mentioned her name to them. and, bear with me here, kids should probably know the name of their real mother (Stella or whatever) and then it would not be such a mytery to them!!!!

May 18, 2009 at 2:31 PM

and… FYI,in the previous episode Ted said that when he got “the mother’s” phone number he would call her right away, which means he doesn’t already the woman!! Btw, someone told me it was the last season..is it true:(?
