The Big Bang Theory – Strangers on a train

Wolowitz and Summer Glau on The Big Bang Theory

Perhaps I should have dubbed this episode of The Big Bang Theory “strangeness on a train.” But, then again, who could be stranger on a train than our boys Sheldon, Raj, Howard and Leonard? With the exception of Leonard, probably the most un-strange person on the train is actually a (drumroll) … terminator!

The guys were heading to San Francisco on the train because Sheldon likes trains. Maybe he doesn’t like airplanes. Maybe they give him agita or something. The first thing I noticed, being a train commuter, is that the train wasn’t a NJ Transit or NYC subway ilk. Nope. It’s a wonder they didn’t have a beverage cart wheeled up and down the aisles. Yet, I should mention … Leonard had his nasty feet up on the seat. Bad train etiquette, bad!

So, what are the chances of Summer Glau, A.K.A. Cameron from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, being on the train with the nerd herd? Well, there she was! You see, this is where the plain old NJ Transit train could come in handy — while the seats often can flip, they’re all usually facing the same direction. All she would have needed to do is sit on the aisle seat, spread her stuff on the other seat and then pretend to be asleep. What? Me? Um, yeah. Sometimes you just need some alone time on the train.

Instead, first she was hit upon by Raj. He was bolstered by non-alcoholic beer in its placebo mode. He squeaked once Howard pointed the alcohol content (or lack thereof) to him. So then Howard moved in on Summer. Howard’s moves were bolstered by his innate Wolowitz-ism or it could be that his recent sexual romps with Leslie have made him even a more dashing creepy man.

I can’t help but wonder what the other passengers thought of the guys and their trips back to Summer’s spot. Most of them seemed to be reading papers or working on their laptops. Again, their behavior wouldn’t cut it around here. Someone would tell them to shut up or take it upon themselves to rescue a damsel in distress. That’s exactly what she was.

I think what I’m going to remember most about this episode is when Leonard told Sheldon he was “between a rock and a crazy place.” I’m going to have to use that line at work tomorrow.

This was another good episode of TBBT.
CBS really needs to step up their website streaming. I don’t know if its cause other studios own the rights to shows or what, but half of CBS’ shows are not on their website.
