Are Jared and Jensen finally getting their big break on film?

I guess you could argue that they already have, if you want to get technical. The boys from Supernatural have a few film credits to their name, but they’re not exactly on the A-list, are they. House of Wax, anyone?

So why is it that up until now, we haven’t seen them blow us away on the big screen like they do on our TV week after week? If there’s one thing we know from watching Supernatural, it’s that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have acting chops and then some.

Maybe they prefer the small screen, who knows? Some actors just do. But Supernatural has a definitive end in sight, and it seems the boys have realized they’d better get their faces out there now, because both have some pretty big movies coming out this winter. In fact, Jensen’s movie My Bloody Valentine 3-D opened yesterday. Check out the trailer for it in Brett’s review of this week’s Supernatural.

As for Jared Padalecki, he’s starring in the remake of Friday the 13th, which comes out in February, on — you guessed it — Friday the 13th. Here’s the trailer:

There’s no doubt that horror and sci-fi are genres that have treated Padalecki and Ackles well, at least on the small screen, but slasher flicks will never garner them the critical acclaim they deserve. Here’s to hoping that sooner or later (maybe later, we don’t want them taking too much focus off Supernatural, now do we?) we’ll see them come out of their shell a little bit and take on some roles that will bring them a bigger audience. How about a nice comedy, guys?

What’s that Jensen? Oh, you say you did a comedy in 2007 called Ten Inch Hero? Well, I’d like to see that movie, but since it hasn’t yet been commercially released, I guess we’ll have to settle with the trailer. Watch as his hair magically changes from pink, to green, to blue!
