Regarding tonight’s Battlestar Galactica: I can’t say much

I caught tonight’s episode at home last night, as I was sent the official DVD screener. As the paperwork I signed forbids me to mention much of anything, I’ll just have to make it quick and let your imagination run wild … for the most part.

I can’t talk about anything “big” that happens — and there are big things that happen. I can’t go into details about the planet we saw at the end of the last episode, discoveries made there, etc. You’re just going to all have to wait to see about that.

One thing that shouldn’t be a big surprise is that the opening scene is indeed the little preview video we got to see — it all starts right from there.

I have to mention that one thing that ticked me off was that the accompanying paperwork for the DVD says a pivotal scene was removed in the screener, in case “the DVD falls into the wrong hands.” After seeing the episode, it’s not clear where such a scene was deleted or what it might reveal. To me, though, it felt like we couldn’t be trusted with the info in the DVD. I’ll just have to sit tight like the rest of you and be just as surprised. Seeing as I’ll be chatting it up with some of you during tonight’s episode (join in!), it’s a good thing that I can share in that moment. Just let me think that, OK?

There are definitely a couple of “whoa” reveals that will get everyone talking and speculating. Maybe I was in a bad mood last night, but I couldn’t get over how silly it seems that everything happens on that beach and the immediate surrounding area. This is a huge planet, and yet everything that matters is right there where they just happened to land. Maybe it’s all part of the prophecy and fate? To me it just felt like a very small area of filming, with not a whole lot of space to stretch out.

The performances to watch: Dee and Bill Adama. Man, Bill Adama. Best yet.

And … that’s about all I’m going to say, because I think I hear Sci Fi walking down the hallway and … what? No, I wasn’t going to say anything about that. No, really! Hey, watch where you’re pointing that thing … hey that’s pretty cool and shiny, what does it d….

Oh, OK, thanks. I didn’t remember her first name. Wow, that’s a character we didn’t see much of in the first part of the season.

Actually, her first name is Anastasia. Dualla is her last name and her nickname is “Dee”

Confession: I have been glutting myself on spoilers. Now, I hope they were foilers.

Maybe they did not “happen” to land there? Maybe they detected what seemed to be an area with large “man-made” structures. Or maybe the One True God, is guiding their path. Or maybe it would have been too costly to film more locations. (Remember they were on a tight budget because they wanted to save money for the final battle.)

Anyhoo. Thrilled for tonight. I don’t get to watch until 11p my time. Enjoy the live chat!

Oh, and the “new clues” are wonderful!

No bueno! You’re not coming to the chat!

From other reviews of the screener I have read, the cut scene is the very last one.

The final cylon reveal, I wonder?

That seems to be the big bet if the rumors of us finding out in this episode are true.

For my first official guess, I’m going to say it’s Boomer. There is something special about her. They remade her (perfect) copy. Just a feeling.

January 16, 2009 at 5:07 PM

We all know what that feeling is, Tim-1 :)

I’ve been able to do something that I’ve rarely been able to pull off before:

I’m completely spoiler free for the final episodes (!)

Normally, I embrace the spoilers, but not this time (trying with Lost this season, too).

And Tim-1. I’m willing to place a perfectly normal internet wager that the final Cylon is not Boomer.

Same here Dorv although I have been letting myself read a few hints here and there. But for the most part I am going into the final 10 pretty much unaware. Here’s to keeping away from it…lets see if we can last!

No Tim-1 sweetie, I don’t think so either, although on another site I read a four page essay making the case for her as final, so apparently the idea is floating in the ether.

Really!…wow! I just got home from my Friday night tennis match….I cut the after-tennis recap chat short with the boys….They all understood that THE big night is tonight for me (and my BSG community). Ha Ha….I guess just about everyone breathing on the show has been guessed by now, right bsgfan2003? This was a nice little pre-opening blog leading in and we all appreciate it. Lets let the party begin!

Dorv, I’m not taking that bet, you are probably a better poker player than me!
