Food on the Tube – Food Network Holiday Cookie Recipes

Ginger CookiesThe snow is falling here in the Northeast and I’m planning on being snowed in all weekend. I’m taking the opportunity to cozy around the oven (I don’t have a fireplace) and do some baking. Banana bread is already baked, and I’m going to be moving on to some cookies soon. I thought that I would share some of the great Food Network cookie recipes that I have picked out as good possibilities.

My only problem is that I have no cookie cutters, so I’m not sure if I will be going with the ever festive circles or perhaps try cutting cookies out freehand.

Onto the recipes…

  • Ginger Spice Cookies: I love that this recipe uses fresh ginger instead of the powder that you buy in the spice section. Nothing says holidays to me like spice cookies.
  • Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting: I’m a big fan of pumpkin desserts. While they made be a bit more suited for Thanksgiving, I don’t know that I can pass up an excuse to make cream cheese frosting.
  • Sugar Cookies: They’re a classic. When sifting through a bunch of recipes, I tend to always go for Alton Brown’s or Tyler Florence’s. This recipe is Alton’s, I trust he went through lots of scientific experimentation to ensure that they are the best.
  • Linzer Heart Sandwich Cookies: I watched Alexandra Guarneschelli make these on The Cooking Loft last weekend. They looked delicious. Thin little cookies, sandwiched around fruit jam. Yum.
  • Brown Sugar Shortbread Cookies: I know a bunch of people who hate shortbread, but I love it. These look really simple and tasty.
  • Paula’s Loaded Oatmeal Cookies: I love oatmeal cookies. Leave it to Paula Deen to completely overdo a simple cookie. Her recipe calls for a brown butter icing and tons of spices. Sounds good to me.
  • Rum Balls: Who doesn’t love booze in their cookies? The best part of this recipe is you don’t even have to turn on the oven. Well, this weekend, that may not be the best part, brr…

Do you have any favorite cookie recipes to share?
