Lipstick Jungle – Chapter 14: Let the Games Begin

NBC

NBC

(Season 2, Episode 7)

“I need your help. I’m trying to de-cougarize.” – Nico to Victory, on choosing an outfit to meet Kirby’s mom

Ack! Why must they move Lipstick Jungle to Friday nights to die, just when it’s getting good?! It’s a travesty, I tell you! I’m ultra-excited about the addition of Rosanna Arquette as Kirby’s mom and Vanessa Marcil as Shane’s manager. Let’s just hope they use these women to their max and not squander them on stupid storylines that go nowhere — not that I have an opinion about it or anything!

I was practically screaming at the TV when Kirby’s mom, Tina, and Nico showed up at their first dinner wearing the same spiky red shoes. And that they attended the same Annie Lennox concert back in the day. Oh yeah, they’re twins separated at birth, and that’s just so awkward for Nico.

And sure, Tina might have told Nico, “Honey, relax, you had me at the shoes,” but what she really meant was “Get away from my son, you bitch! He doesn’t belong in your world!” And why not, I ask? Why can’t a struggling hunk make it with a wealthy power-woman? Why, why, why?!! If I were him, I’d just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I’ve had a huge girl-crush on Vanessa Marcil since her Brenda-on-General-Hospital days all the way through her ultra-cool stint as snarky Sam on Las Vegas. I love her! And she’s already sharpening the claws to play cat-and-mouse with Wendy over Shane. And well, he seems like he’s OK with Wendy and Dennis’ kiss two weeks ago (hey, at least she told him!), but that’s the kind of thing that wears on a guy.

I bet when Josie works her flirty wiles on him – now that Wendy’s not producing the movie anymore – he’ll have some serious ‘splainin’ to do to Wendy. Just try not to get run over by a taxi while you’re doing it, Shane. They could resurrect The Dresden Files, and I wanna make sure you’re still alive for that.

Other stuff:

  • Oh, Victory! When will you wise up and get a clue about Joe? He loves you, girl. Just go with it. You’re perfect for each other.
  • I’m actually loving the cross-promotions with Maybelline, with Victory being interviewed during the commercial breaks. Hey, the show needs ads in order to stay alive, so however they can make it interesting is OK by me.
  • Love the life-chats with all three girls. I want them for my friends!
  • Loving Evelyn, Joe’s assistant. She’s da real-girl bomb.

Your thoughts?

I am sad this show has moved to Friday too.

It has started to get really good! I like the Victory and Joe relationship. I’m glad that it is moving forward! How are Victory’s pals going to explain keeping the ring a secret?

Even though it is on Friday, I hope NBC doesn’t cancel it early.
