Tonight on the tube: Survivorman, Shadow Force & Whale Wars

Animal Planet

Animal Planet

8:00p/7:00 Central

  • While FOX still wants to know Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, NBC just wants to know if it’s a Deal or No Deal.
  • TLC offers up another Real Simple. Real Life. helping real women with their … real lives. Yeah, I guess that was kind of obvious. So do I have to explain what ABC’s Wife Swap is about? Do people think it’s a show about swingers? Ha! Even the official description of the series makes sure to clarify this: “The wives exchanges husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover just what it’s like to live in another woman’s shoes.” That, my friends, is hilarious!
  • MyNetwork TV doesn’t have to explain that WWE SmackDown doesn’t have men smacking their women down. Even though, I think that has happened on occasion actually.
  • When a kid’s make-believe friend causes havoc, Melinda has to play a game of hide-and-seek on Ghost Whisperer. Also, does death come knocking? You know it would be sometime this month (sweeps!) if it’s gonna happen.
  • The CW offers Everybody Hates Chris, with Chris trying to break up Doc’s relationship, followed by The Game, with Kelly and Jason both trying to move on. Meanwhile, Discovery is relocating Toughest Race on Earth: Iditarod to face all this competition. Tonight, Eskimo Nelson considers dropping out of the race while the Busers make a move to help Martin secure another win.

9:00p/8:00 Central

  • It kind of makes you wonder if Les Stroud, better known perhaps as Discovery Channel’s Survivorman, would be able to handle the intense condictions of the Iditarod. Tonight he gets lost in the Sierra Nevada and a Search and Rescue team has to be sent in.
  • CMT is offering another CMT Crossroads, this time featuring Def Leppard and Taylor Swift. Or, if you’re musically knowledgable yourself, stick with FOX and Don’t Forget the Lyrics!
  • Other reality includes History’s Gangland, looking at warlocks, TLC’s What Not to Wear, and a new Supernanny on ABC. Tonight, Jo must help a family with 4 and 7-year old children deal with the ramifications of the parents separation and divorce.
  • Animal Planet is launching new series Whale Wars, following a team of people who spend every year in the seas around Australia trying to stop Japanese ships who hunt whales in the name of science. Alternatley, Cartoon Network is all new with Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
  • Robinson and Friday find a boat up a tree and set out to see if it can be repaired enough to get Crusoe home on NBC. Meanwhile, Atlantis is under someone else’s control and they seek revenge on Sci Fi’s Stargate: Atlantis.

10:00p/9:00 Central

  • ABC’s 20/20 looks at the case of a little girl brutally raped and murdered and the devoted father who was hastily and conveniently accused of the crime. BBC America offers up their weekly Newsnight.
  • Little furry critters leads to amorous feelings among the team on Sci Fi’s Sanctuary. USA is all new with The Starter Wife, while Starz brings another Crash, and NBC brings “Chapter Fourteen” of Lipstick Jungle.
  • On CBS’s Numb3rs, when a magician really disappears, David had to become more than just a spectator to figure out this trick.
  • The History Channel kicks of Shadow Force, tonight featuring a team of covert operatives who infiltrate a corrupt Monrovian (Liberia) harbor and try to stop real life pirates without blowing their cover.

11:00p/10:00 Central

  • HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher wraps the night, tonight featuring Howie Mandel, Joe Queenan, Paul Begala, and NJ Mayor Cory Booker.
