Even if CliqueClack is US based, we do have a good crop of Canadian readers. Let’s face it, we Canadians have access to all major American networks and even our major Canadian networks air US shows, so it’s normal to see Canadians visit websites and blogs such as this one.

Today is a big day for Canada as we are voting to elect the new federal government. I find it important to vote, but every election year, I do my best to avoid any type of election coverage show on TV as it bores me to death and we don’t have official results until very late at night, if not the following day.

So what are we to watch instead? I offer you a list of quality programming to watch tonight.

Depending on where you live and if you have cable, a dish or something else, you will have many choices thanks to specialized channels. However, since my channel lineup most certainly differs from yours, I’ll focus on the quality programming airing on the five major US networks. Check your local listings for times these series air in your area.

Watch these shows live:

  • An NCIS that brings the team to Gibbs’s hometown and introduces his father… and family secrets. (CBS)
  • A new The Mentalist episode involving surfers. (CBS)
  • Eli Stone‘s season premiere. Did the surgery to remove Eli’s brain aneurysm work? (ABC)

Record these and watch after Eli Stone:

  • Watch House be coerced into attending his own father’s funeral. (FOX)
  • Try to understand what the hell is going on on Fringe, and see how Olivia reacts to the blast from her past. (FOX)

This suggested lineup will fill five hours of your evening, meaning that when you are done, it’s more than likely that Canadian networks will have announced who should be the winner of the elections. So tune in to your favorite Canadian network and watch a few minutes to be up-to-date with the night’s happenings and results. Then, go to bed. It’s way past midnight already (unless you live in PAC timezone)!
