The Amazing Race – Do You Like American Candy?

CBS

CBS

(Season 13, Episode 2)

DVRs are great, but they’re not smart enough to make adjustments on the fly. What this means is that because of CBS’s football coverage in the afternoon, things get kicked back. And because I didn’t get home until after the episode aired, I got to see fifteen minutes of 60 Minutes and lose out on the last quarter of the premiere of The Amazing Race. I did go online and find out what happened and who got eliminated, but I didn’t get to see it because CBS doesn’t stream episodes of this show online. Why, CBS, don’t you stream some of your more popular shows? Especially a show like this that builds throughout its season.

Loving beekeepers Anita and Arthur were the last to arrive at the pit-stop last week and felt the sweet, sweet pangs of defeat. Tonight, CBS marketing tells us teams will start making fundamental mistakes that could cost them the race

The action started in Brazil at 4am as several teams headed for the airport and … waited. Sometimes the twelve hour break winds up evening everything up as people all get to the airport in the middle of the night and then have to wait for morning flights. As such, all ten teams wound up on the same flight, resetting the race to square zero.

At this point, much like early episodes of Survivor, it’s hard to really connect with any of the teams with so little information and so many of them hogging up the screen. What I do know already is that Tina is a bitch and Terrence is … a bitch. Damn is Terrence a bitch! Tina went on and on about how she got a bigger flight out of Brazil so that all the teams could stay together. You’d have thought she went out there and built it. Then Terrence and Tina started bitching each other out which was awesome.

Carry-Ons

  • “If they learn how to fix cars, they can probably make it rich,” Anthony about the people of Brazil, due to the fact that “it looks like they play bumper cars” with all their cars.
  • “Should we go in there and get an ice cream,” Terrence asked while they were lost trying to find a taxi. “Yeah babe,” Sarah responded, “Because we’re sight-seeing.”
  • Who doesn’t look to see if their taxi is there before deciding that it isn’t? Kelly and Christy, that’s who?
  • There are some really dumb teams on this season’s race. I mean a lot of dumb teams. To this point I still don’t know what those dumb girls were doing digging in the sand.

Karma came up and bit Terrence in the ass as his arrogance and pig-headed bullying led him and Sarah way off-base and into 9th place when trying to get a taxi to the Road Block. But somehow they turned it around completely and wound up toward the top of the pack at the pit stop. In the end, mellow Anthony and Stephanie were eliminated from the race.

CBS doesn’t stream alot of their shows for some reason.

The stupid blondes were digging in the sand because the clue for second roadblock said you have to find the container. Obviously neither one was blessed with a brain.

And what can i say about the taxi dream for both teams….Should Terrance and Sarah when they saw others coming down the road with a taxi be going that way instead of stomping?

Sarah and her husband got to go. She wines about others not saying Hi to them and he is so jealous that she talks to another human being, good lord.

The stupid girls digging in the sand were NOT the blondes. They were the divorcees.

That wasn’t the stupid blondes, that was the stupid divorcees, Kelly & Christie. You know, the ones who then decided that their cab had taken off before they actually figured out that it hadn’t.

Hurray for the Nerds for picking the right Detour.

Brent, it’s only the right detour if you can solve it quickly.

How long does it take for TAR to really run? Is the whole thing shot within a couple of weeks? Just wondering.

Sarah is fluent and can’t ask a person standing there staring at them to call a cab?

Ken, you are better off without Miss Wonderful. What a piece of work she is. Sarah, ditto for your Whiny Baby.

Jason,

I’m sympathetic to your DVR woes. I missed the end of last week’s season premier due to football, so I corrected myself this week and set my DVR to record Cold Case. That way I don’t have to miss any of Amazing Race.
