The machines win! Is Fox about to cancel Terminator?

Fox

Fox

Things just don’t look good for the Connors. I mentioned in our ratings column that last week’s Terminator:TSCC didn’t do well. This week, it got worse. The show dropped another 400,000 viewers, along with another tenth in the demo, coming in at 5.4 million viewers and a 2.1. It’s dangerously close to being surpassed by Gossip Girl in the demo, which could only be described as a complete disaster.

Now, our pals over at SyFy Portal are reporting that Fox could stop production as early as this week. According to their sources some executives think the show is dragging down the numbers for Prison Break. They also refer to the demo number as being “in the toilet.” That’s a good way to put it. I imagine it’s a tough call because the network tried so hard to force this thing into being a hit. Terminator got as much of an early promotion push as just about any show I’ve ever seen, but it never worked. The SyFy piece suggests that production will stop and Fox may try to show some of the episodes that are already completed. My guess is that we’ll be seeing encores of House and Bones on Monday night before too long.

This is really a shame. I really like T:TSCC a lot and it has quickly become one of my favorite shows… I don’t understand why there are so few viewers. Maybe it is in the wrong timeslot. It’s not that the storyline is too complicated for occasional viewers to follow it.
I wouldn’t blame FOX for canceling it though (but just this time!), they obviously tried.

I’ve enjoyed the show, but haven’t loved it. I think they’ve gotten a bit off track this year, so I’m not really surprised that they are in danger of cancellation. Too bad, because it had the potential to be really great. I think one of the problems is that John seems a bit too whiny and immature for the future leader of the resistance. I know he’s still a teenager, but after all he’s been through, shouldn’t he be a little more cold and calculating by now?

All in all, I won’t be too sorry to see this one go, but I’ll keep watching it as long as it’s on the air.

I like the show, but it is only good and not great. That said T:SCC did better than PB this week, so who is bringing what down?

They should move house to 9pm Wednesday after Bones (cancel Til Death), have T:SCC on at 8pm Tuesday before Fridge (or switch them for the lead in thing) and then cancel PB because it’s long over due.

For me, the season is really getting good. Last week, finding out more about Cameron was exciting.

Yes, change time or day, but don’t cancel!!

I’m thinking that perhaps the fact that Prison Break sucks is what is dragging Prison Break down. Sorry… just a little upset by this news…

Fox please don’t cancel the show move it first to Wednesday first if it fail them cancel. This show easily became my favorite show to watch its just too bad others don’t feel the same. Give it a second chance on another night but don’t cancel. The show has really good writers and cast members.

Of course, find a good show and cancel it. Do they take into account the people that DVR it and watch it or the people that watch it online?

I also have the “too many programs to watch on Monday night” blues but I DVR almost all of them so I can watch them when I can.

This is a good show, it has action and good acting but it seems the “sci-fi” type shows just don’t make it with the big 4.

What’s gonna end up happening? We are all going to be saddled with lame comedies and reality shows where people have to make themselves into forms so the wall can pass them by.

Come on Fox, try moving it to Wen. or even a lead in or follow up of Fringe on Tuesdays. Give it a chance.

Considering all the terrible programming that FOX drags out endlessly, I really hope that they keep this going. Prison Break (was never intended to last beyond a season or two), 24, ever-expanding American Idol/So You Think You Can Dance schedule filler, and a stream of half-assed sitcom attempts.

TSCC is by no means perfect, but it is fun and at least something a little different from the rest of the broadcast TV landscape.

I wish they could figure out a business model that would at least allow them to come up with a finishing point for the series. I only started watching two weeks ago. I’ve spent $14 on buying episodes from iTunes, and then have been watching on Hulu. I’ve never met anyone who has watched this show, but I’m certain that people would like it if they gave it a shot. So why not announce “This will be the last season” and just finish it up in some meaningful way.
