Reality TV newsy bits

Isis

CW

Oh, even if you’re not a huge fan of the reality television genre, it’s hard to ignore. It’s not going away. If you’re that hardcore against reality television, you might want to skip over this. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not apologizing for the genre … just saying you should move along if you don’t want to get some of the latest newsy bits. Ah, but if you do — just read on past the jump.

I knew you couldn’t resist joining me. Maybe you’re a closet reality television watcher. I won’t tell anyone.

The Week That Was

Over on MTV, they’re showing Survivor gone MTV-style with the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Island. There have been a few years that I thought CBS had gone MTV on us, but now it’s vice versa. In last week’s episode, it was between two different guys going home. One had word that his business was in trouble and needed him. The other whined and fussed a lot about wanting to go home. Can you guess who’s gone? It’s like Survivor with food and shelter for rich frat boys and sorority girls.
Real World Road Rules Episode 3 Highlights

It was a double eviction week for America’s Top Model. Hannah and Isis went home. Hannah was kind of a naive little gal from Alaska. But the real news is the Isis elimination. She was the transgendered model on the show who created a bit of controversy just by being there. I’m not saying I mind, but folks perceived issues between Hannah and Isis. Supposedly Hannah was prejudiced, but she denies it. I don’t know. I always thought Isis was a superhero.

This past week’s Survivor premiere also saw two leaving the show. But no, it wasn’t a double eviction. It was more like two episodes in one. Both of the ones who went did themselves in. Jason Hughes wrote up a review right here on CliqueClackTV. I know I wanted to like Gillian just because. But she royally screwed it all up. In the video below, we get her explanations (as they are) the day after she got booted.

Other notable reality show exits

  • On a rock and roll episode of Project Runway with LL Cool J as a judge, Suede was auf’d.
  • On Dancing with the Stars, Ted McGinley and Inna Brayer waltzed on out of the show.
  • On The Biggest Loser, father and son team Tom and LT were shown the weigh out the door.
  • Brandi C. walked out on I Love Money.
  • Shazia was cut out of Top Design.
  • Hippie beekeepers Anita and Arthur didn’t get to the Pit Stop in time on The Amazing Race.

My Stupidest Show Award

I may not give this out each week or it may go to the same show every week. Right now the honor goes to Paris Hilton and her new MTV series, Paris Hilton’s New BFF. Now, this is an interactive show. You can go to the website, set up a profile, and hope to get voted in. Blech. Paris can just send me money to the Western Union counter. Sometimes it’s best for BFFs not to ever see each other. Oh, and sorry to break your heart and smash your hopes and dreams … the voting is now closed.

Biggest reality show hoax

In the UK back in 2005, several contestants actually thought they were on a reality show in space. Silly rabbits. Space Cadet never left the ground.

Until next week, it’s been real. Or, at least not totally scripted!

Hey Jackie! Thanks for telling us about this site. I can never get too much Jackie!

Suede was sad that Suede was auf’d. I was glad to see him go but really thought Kenley needed to get the boot!
